The competent authorities of the Trikala Regional Unit are also on alert. The Pinios River overflowed its wide bed at the peak of Valomandri on Friday evening.

Residents of the settlement of Yperia in the regional community of Larissa received a message from 112 early Saturday morning, urging them to relocate to the city of Farsala, due to the swelling of the Enipeas River.

Civil Protection called on citizens in areas near the riverbed to be on full alert, while in some cases, such as in the Yperias area, preventive movement to safer places and direction towards the Farsala area was requested.

The message sent this morning stated that residents of Lefki, Orphanas, Ampelonas, Fyllos and Ilias should remain on alert due to the risk of river flooding and should closely follow the instructions of the Authorities.

At the same time, the competent authorities of the Trikala Regional Unit are also on alert, as heavy rainfall has swollen rivers in the area.

The Deputy Governor of Trikala, Ms. Chrysa Dinti, went to the scene and told the Athens-Macedonia News Agency that the development of the phenomenon is being monitored, without causing concern so far.

"The water is 1 to 1.5 meters from the edge to reach the main riverbed," Thessaly regional governor Dimitris Kouretas told ERT.

He explained that there is a spill on a branch where there is no level gauge and the waters have flooded the fields towards the small village of Yperia, with 20 inhabitants, but without any danger.

In the remaining areas there are no major problems, he said, emphasizing that the Region's forces are closely monitoring developments./ CNA
