All departures from four airports in Germany will be canceled today and tomorrow, due to the strike of security control workers, called by the Verdi union, and at least 100,000 people will face the consequences of the disruption.

According to the German airport association, ADV, due to the strikes at the airports in Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Cologne/Bonn, about 700 outbound flights will be canceled, reports "Reuters".

The Verdi union has also called on security staff to stop work at Stuttgart airport on Friday and it is not known how many cancellations this will cause.

The reason for the strike is the negotiations between the union and the Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS) for bonuses for night shifts, work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, which have not made progress.

High inflation in Europe's largest economy has sparked a wave of strikes in recent months as workers demand higher wages to offset rising living costs.

The rail and transport union EVG has announced a one-day strike for Friday. EVG is demanding a 12 percent pay rise for its 230,000 members due to rising inflation and the cost of living.

The strike, which will begin at three in the morning and last until 11:00, will affect the work of around fifty railway companies, including the state-owned Deutsche Bahn, which is the largest railway company in Europe.
