Absolut Vodka will not export its products to Russia, following criticism it has received in its country of origin, Sweden.

Initially, the company stopped exports in March 2022, after Russia started the war in Ukraine.

But its parent company, Pernod Ricard, has confirmed that some products are being exported again.

This announcement was met with outrage.

Pernod Ricard has since announced that it has once again banned all exports of Absolut Vodka in order to protect staff and partners from criticism.

The statement said that the company is exercising its right to "protect staff and partners as we cannot expose them to mass criticism in all forms".

In the past week, many popular restaurants and bars in Sweden have removed the drink from their shelves, and politicians have condemned its export.

The Swedish Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, has said that he is "very surprised" that the company has resumed exports.
