Hundreds of flights are expected to be canceled due to strikes in Germany

About 700 flights will be cancelled, affecting almost 100,000 passengers, due to strikes planned for Thursday and Friday by the Verdi trade union in Germany, the Airports Association said.

The strikes will take place at three German airports.

"Almost 100,000 passengers will suffer as a result of Verdi's strike tactics," said the director of this association, Ralph Beisel.

On Friday, there are also expected to be strikes by railway workers in Germany, which are expected to cause great problems for people who use this means of transport.

The airport association accused the labor unions of abusing the right to strike. According to this association, in the first three months of this year, over 900,000 passengers were forced to change their flights or faced cancellation of flights due to strikes.

The Verdi union is negotiating with the Aviation and Insurance Companies Association over workers' bonuses and is also seeking to reach a new collective agreement that would include overtime pay for security sector staff and of services at commercial airports.

Unionists have so far rejected the Aviation Association's offers, with negotiations expected to continue on April 27 and 28.
