Russia launched 479 drones into Ukraine/ Officials: Shot down with 20 missiles of various types

Russia launched 479 drones into Ukraine in the largest overnight drone bombing of the three-year war, the Ukrainian air force said on Monday, as the Kremlin continues its summer offensive against the backdrop of direct peace talks.

In addition to the drones, 20 missiles of various types were fired at various parts of Ukraine, according to the air force, which said the barrage mainly targeted central and western areas of Ukraine.

Ukraine's air force said its air defenses destroyed 277 drones and 19 missiles in mid-flight Sunday evening, claiming only 10 drones or missiles hit their targets. Officials said one person was injured.

A recent escalation in airstrikes has coincided with a renewed Russian offensive on the battlefield in the eastern and northeastern parts of the nearly 1,000-kilometer front line.
