Poland declares a state of disaster after the floods

Damatic situation due to rainfall and flooding in many parts of central and southern Europe. Many are considered lost.

After severe flooding, Poland declared a state of disaster for the flooded areas. The Government of Warsaw also approved the relevant regulation during an emergency meeting held on Monday.

The state of disaster also applies to parts of Lower Silesia, Silesia and Opole. In the small town of Klodzko in Lower Silesia, entire streets were flooded. Meanwhile, a hospital in Nysa in the Opole region was evacuated. The Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, promised aid for the flooded areas 1 billion zlotys, 240 million euros. Even Austria has increased aid for disaster areas to the value of 300 million euros, aid that can be increased in case of need.

At least 18 dead from the floods

In addition to Poland, parts of Austria, Romania and the Czech Republic were badly affected by the floods. On Monday, the death toll in the four countries rose to at least 18. Still many themselves are considered lost.
