The flood situation from storm "Boris" in Central Europe is getting worse.

The mayor of the Polish city of Nysas, Kordian Kolbiarz, has asked all 44,000 residents to evacuate, as the risk is expected to be greater.

He called on residents to take shelter in mountainous areas or high-rise buildings, as there is a possibility of an embankment breach and a cascade of water into the city from a nearby lake.

"Please evacuate your belongings, yourselves, your loved ones. It is worth going to the top floor of the building immediately, because the wave can be several meters high. This means that the whole city will be flooded," said the mayor of Nysa .

So far, 16 victims have been registered from the ongoing floods in Central Europe.

Although conditions have stabilized in some countries, others are preparing for more disruption and danger./ CNA
