Pakistan temporarily suspends military operations against Afghanistan

Pakistan has announced that it will temporarily suspend military operations against Afghanistan, following a period of strong escalation of the conflict between the two countries.

There have been airstrikes, border clashes and high political tensions in recent days. The conflict escalated especially after Pakistani attacks on Afghan territory, which Kabul says have caused civilian casualties.

This conflict is part of a wider clash that began in late February 2026.

Pakistan's Information Minister said the operations would be temporarily halted, without giving much detail on the duration. The decision is seen as a tactical move or to reduce tensions.

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan remain fragile and conflict could resume at any moment. /CNA
