NYT: Iranian intelligence signals readiness for talks with CIA to end war

Agents from Iran's Ministry of Intelligence have signaled that they are willing to begin secret talks with the US CIA on ways to end the current war between Iran and the United States/Israel, according to a report from The New York Times.

Such an offer was sent through the secret service of a third country and has been mentioned by unknown officials from the Middle East and the West.

Neither the White House nor the CIA have commented on the development. US officials in Washington are skeptical that Iran or the US administration of President Trump are truly ready for a "way out" of the conflict in the short term.

Iran's ambassador to the UN in Geneva has ruled out negotiations with the US for the time being, especially after joint airstrikes with Israel on Iran.

The report has been called by Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency as "pure lies and psychological warfare" in the midst of a war.
