Iran postpones Khamenei's funeral ceremony

Iran has postponed the state funeral of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which was scheduled to be held tonight in Tehran.

According to Iranian media reports, the reason for the postponement was the high demand for the funeral, at a time when the country is facing massive Israeli-American attacks. The new date for Khamenei's farewell ceremony will be announced later.

The Coordination Council in Tehran said that Khamenei's funeral was postponed to allow time for infrastructure expansion due to the high demand from across the country.

According to the Council, the Grand Mosque of Tehran would host the ceremony. Ali Khamenei, who was killed at the age of 86 by US-Israeli attacks, is expected to be buried in the holy city of Mashhad (northeastern Iran) where he came from. /CNA
