"Stop military actions"/ China calls for peace in the Middle East

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for an end to Israel's military actions against Iran during a phone call with his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa'ar.

According to a statement from China's foreign ministry, Wang Yi stressed China's stance on resolving international and regional issues through dialogue and consultation.

"Recent negotiations between Iran and the US have made significant progress, which also took into account Israel's security concerns. Regrettably, this process has been interrupted by military attacks. China calls for an immediate cessation of military actions to prevent the conflict from further escalating and getting out of control," the statement said. 

The statement emphasizes that China opposes the attacks launched by Israel and the US against Iran.

"The use of force cannot truly solve problems. On the contrary, it will create new ones and leave serious consequences,"  it further added.

China relies heavily on the Arab states of the Persian Gulf for its energy imports, which are now under threat due to the ongoing war. /CNA
