Athens court declares Golden Dawn a criminal organization, convicts 42 people including former MPs

The Athens Court of Appeal for Serious Crimes confirmed the first-instance verdict and found 42 defendants guilty in the case against Golden Dawn.

The court ruled that "Golden Dawn" functioned as a criminal organization, with an organized structure, hierarchy, and coordinated activity, not simply as a political party.

The decision includes sentences for leading a criminal organization, participating in a criminal organization, intentional homicide, illegal possession of weapons, and other criminal offenses related to the organization's activity, according to Greek media. 

Some of those convicted for leading the organization are: Nikos Michaloliakos, Ilias Kasidiaris, Ioannis Lagos, Christos Pappas, Ilias Panagiotaros, Giorgos Germenis, Artemis Matthaiopoulos.

Other former party members were also found guilty of participating in a criminal organization./CNA
