With temporary permission from The Hague/ Hashim Thaçi arrives in Kosovo

Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi has arrived in Kosovo with temporary permission granted by the Special Court in The Hague. As reported by the media in Kosovo, Thaçi is currently at the UCCK, where his father has been receiving treatment for some time.

It is learned that Thaçi had made requests to the Specialist Chambers in The Hague this year to visit his ailing father, but they had been rejected so far.

The spokesman for the Specialist Chamber in The Hague, Michael Doyle, has confirmed Thaçi's visit for humanitarian reasons.

"For compelling humanitarian reasons, the trial panel and the pre-trial judge have instructed the Administrative Office to manage a supervised visit to Kosovo for Hashim Thaçi to meet his father. During this supervised visit, the accused remains in the custody of the Specialist Chamber," Doyle announced.

Thaçi has been in the Detention Center in The Hague since November 2020. He is being tried for war crimes and was recently charged with obstruction of justice. /CNA
