Not just a party at the Champions League Final/ 200 fans injured by fireworks

The Champions League final was not just a night of celebration. As reported by French media, about 200 people were injured, 21 of whom were police officers. One officer is in an induced coma after being hit in the face by fireworks. French authorities say two fans have died following celebrations across the country for Paris Saint-Germain's historic victory in the Champions League, European club football's top prize.

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the town of Dax during a PSG street party, according to the national police. And a man was killed in Paris when his scooter was hit by a car during PSG celebrations, the interior minister's office said. The circumstances of both deaths are being investigated.

A police officer was accidentally hit by fireworks in northwestern France and was placed in an induced coma due to serious eye injuries, the national police service said.

The French Interior Ministry said 18 police officers in Paris were injured, along with three others elsewhere in France, as well as 192 people celebrating in the streets.

A total of 294 people were arrested by 2am, although the celebrations were largely peaceful, apart from degenerating into violence in some areas./CNA
