The Deputy Minister of Education in Kosovo resigns

On Tuesday, Edona Maloku Bërdyna announced that she has resigned from the position of Deputy Minister for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation in the government of Albin Kurti.

Bërdyna has said that for subjective reasons it is impossible to engage in this task, and for this, according to her, she submitted her resignation to Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

She has said that she will now devote herself to academic work. 

"I inform you that yesterday, on July 31, 2023, I completed my journey as Deputy Minister for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation in the Government of Kosovo. "For subjective reasons, it is impossible for me to continue my commitment to this task and therefore, I have submitted my resignation to Prime Minister Kurti," she said.

"I have worked in the Government of Kosovo with maximum personal and professional dedication. I am particularly proud of the contribution made to early childhood development, increasing the involvement of girls/women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), advancing inclusiveness in education, developing science and innovation and bridging collaborations regional and international. I am deeply grateful to the colleagues with whom I have shared successes and challenges in this common journey. For me, it has been a tremendous honor and lifetime privilege to serve my country. Now I'm going back to my academic work, to continue my contribution to education and science", adds Maloku Bërdyna.
