The incident in the RMV/ Presidency against Kurt: The way it was handled in the
Vjosa Osmani

The Presidency of Kosovo said that it is "regrettable" the way the incident of August 1 was handled, during the August 5 press conference of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and his Macedonian counterpart, Hristijan Mickoski, in Skopje.

During the conference, Hristijan Mickoski said that he regrets the incident at the Skopje Airport, which involved the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani. Meanwhile, his Kosovar counterpart, Albin Kurti, said that an official report will shed light on the whole incident.

“[The conference] has contributed even more to the propaganda against the Republic of Kosovo. What happened at the airport in Skopje was a clear violation of international rules recognized and applied worldwide, therefore the Presidency expects to be notified of the measures taken regarding these violations, as it was emphasized in the note of protest directed by the Republic of Kosovo", it was said in the reaction of the Presidency.

This institution said that it appreciates the expression of regret for the incident by the Macedonian Prime Minister, but added that until now, "at no time have the institutions of North Macedonia addressed the issues raised in the protest note related to the violation of customary international law in relation to the Republic of Kosovo, but on the contrary, openly and without any hesitation they have accepted such a violation".

"There is no need for additional reports and investigations for any factual situation, because they are completely irrelevant before the public acceptance of the institutions of North Macedonia that such a rule was deliberately imposed, despite the clear requirements of international law," it was said. in reaction.

The presidency reiterated that Vjosa Osmani did not exceed or violate the procedures during her trips to different countries of the world. During these trips, despite the fact that in most airports there are strict security rules, Osman, according to the Presidency, was never asked to scan his personal bag, "let alone his phone, much less a full body scan". because this, among other things, would mean that they are treating the head of state - therefore the state - as a potential risk for terrorism".

The Presidency also said that the reports prepared by this institution and the Kosovo Police for this case have been finalized for a few days now.

In these reports, according to the Presidency, it can be seen that there were no requests for deviation or circumvention of the rules, but only respect for conventions and customary international law.

The Kosovar presidency had described the event that took place at the Skopje Airport as "pure provocation and a tendency to cause an incident".

But, when Kosovar Prime Minister Kurti was asked in Skopje if Kosovo still maintains the position that this event was a provocation, he said that he does not know that the institutions have had such a position and this may have been said by any "citizen", but not the institutions. of Kosovo, emphasizing that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo, through announcements, has expressed the position of the Government.

He said that for this case "there will be an official report that will clarify this matter in its entirety, both so that we understand what exactly happened, but also so that such situations never happen again".

Macedonian authorities have said that anyone who committed violations in the case of the incident in Skopje will face criminal responsibility.

The incident in which Osmani was involved has caused numerous reactions from representatives of the opposition and the Albanian parties that are in the governing coalition in North Macedonia, who have blamed each other.

Despite this event, Kurti and Mickoski said that relations between the countries are good.

Kosovo and North Macedonia have diplomatic relations and so far there have been no incidents of this nature. /REL
