Macedonian Band Festival/ Mickoski: Pusteci is proof that belonging is not

A folklore festival of Macedonian groups from the region is taking place in Pustec.

Also present at the festival was the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, who said that Pustec is synonymous with stability, unwavering loyalty, and dignity.

Further, the Macedonian Prime Minister stated that in this country the Macedonian language is not preserved as a custom, but is inherited with love.

Mickoski stated that the Macedonian government has a responsibility to be supportive of the community in Pustec.

Today, when I stand before you, I do not speak only as the Prime Minister of the Government, but I speak as a man who believes that a nation consists of precisely this, the connection between people that I feel as mine, regardless of where we live. Even when we are close, even when we are far away, whether in the homeland or abroad, feelings, identity, belonging, all become one. Your place in this history is special, not only because geographically we are in different countries, but because you are deeply in the heart of our homeland. You are synonymous with stability, silent loyalty, dignity and simultaneous humility. Even when no one asked you, even when no one mentioned you, you remained who you are. And you remained loyal to the country in which you live.

Over the past decades, many things have changed, politics, government, borders, but you remained steadfast. Here, the Macedonian language is not preserved as a custom, but is inherited with love. Here, the song, customs, memories are part of your daily life. This is precisely why a deep respect is felt when someone comes here, not out of formality, but out of sincere conviction. I am sorry that the propaganda that has followed Macedonians throughout history has not spared you either. You live here, you honor these lands, you live these lands. Through substitutions, through pressures, through prohibitions, they have attempted to shake what is yours, but you remained steadfast.

You have spoken, you have testified, you have lived through obstacles, through pressures, through silent resistance to defend what is yours. You have learned more through pain, because you have not bowed down, you have not accepted comfortable oblivion, you have not been ashamed of yourself. Do not let anyone define your identity in your place.

And therefore, dear brothers and sisters, Macedonia bows to you. It is said that a state shows its maturity by the way it treats those who are not at the center. Today we want to show that we are learning state-building. So, we want to establish a new relationship with you. There is a future for every child who learns in their native language. For every family that wants to stay here. For every young person who believes that it is worth staying in your own country.

Prandaj si qeveri, si qeveri maqedonase, kemi përgjegjësi të jemi mbështetje, mbështetja juaj. Në arsim, në kulturë, në zhvillim ekonomik, në të gjitha format e bashkëpunimit ndërkufitar. Jo si mëshirë, por si detyrim. Jo sepse dikush na bën presion, por sepse besojmë se kjo është e drejta. Këtë fazë të re duam ta shohim si vëllezër e motra , për nga gjaku, për nga identiteti, për nga gjuha. T’ju dëgjojmë zërin, të punojmë së bashku, të jemi të pranishëm. Dhe secili që jeton këtu ta dijë se nuk është vetëm. Dua që fshati Pustec të rritet me ndjenjën e përkatësisë, që nuk bazohet në frikë, por në vetëbesim. Dua që çdo prind këtu ta dijë se ka vlerë t’i mësojë fëmijës së vet gjuhën amtare. Dua të krijojmë kushte që këtu të jetohet më mirë, jo me fjalë boshe, por me rezultate të dukshme.

Ky nuk është takimi i fundit. Kjo është një fillim i ri dhe i pari nga shumë të tillë. Sepse puna jonë tani sapo ka filluar. Ne jemi këtu jo vetëm për të folur, por për një lidhje që do të ndërtohet çdo ditë, me projekte, me programe, me politika që do të arrijnë deri te ju, ashtu siç sinqeriteti juaj arriti te ne. Përmes përkatësisë sonë kombëtare, Pusteci është dëshmi se përkatësia nuk fshihet, se rrënjët mbeten edhe kur na fryjnë erëra të forta, dhe se ekzistojnë njerëz që nuk presin falënderime, por vetëm mundësi për të vazhduar atje ku të tjerët do të dorëzoheshin.

Ju faleminderit që e mbani atë heshtje të mbushur me forcë. Ju faleminderit që mbeteni vetvetja. Ju premtoj se ky shtet do të dijë t’ju përshëndesë me respekt, me punë dhe me mbështetje të vazhdueshme. Të jetojë secili që me dinjitet ruan identitetin e vet. Të jetojë atdheu që nuk njeh kufij, por vetëm vlera të vërteta.

Kohët e fundit jemi dëshmitarë të përpjekjeve për të na mohuar, për të na unifikuar me zor, për të na bërë “modernë”, për të na fshirë, për të vënë në dyshim gjithçka që është maqedonase. Por ajo që shoh sot këtu para meje, në Pustec, dhe ajo që ndjej, për mua është një burim i madh frymëzimi për të vazhduar më tej, për të përkrahur maqedonasit kudo në botë dhe për të treguar se ne jemi maqedonas, me një identitet maqedonas shumë shekullor e të veçantë, që flasin gjuhën amtare maqedonase, të ndryshme nga të gjitha gjuhët e tjera të Ballkanit. Ne jemi maqedonas krenarë, kemi qenë dhe do të mbetemi gjithmonë maqedonas.

E di që keni qenë qytetarë besnikë dhe të ndershëm të Republikës së Shqipërisë, por dua ta dini se në mua, si Kryeministër i Qeverisë së Maqedonisë, keni një vëlla, një mik, i cili, për sa kohë është gjallë dhe sa kohë e kryen këtë detyrë të nderuar, është këtu për ju dhe i gatshëm t’ju ndihmojë për gjithçka që mendoni se Qeveria e Maqedonisë mund të bëjë për ju.

 

Macedonia, after many years of stagnation, after 7 years of national humiliation and plunder by politicians who, fortunately for us, are now part of the past, is experiencing a renaissance, both economically and nationally, during these 13–14 months. And we will not stop here, we will continue forward! We will fight for each of you. To show that we are neither Greeks, nor Bulgarians, nor Serbs, we are Macedonians. Macedonians in Albania and everywhere in the world.
