FBI and NSA: Cyberattacks from Iran still possible

Despite the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel, according to intelligence experts, the US must continue to reckon with Iranian cyberattacks.

The Washington-brokered ceasefire has not eliminated the threat of cyberattacks, the FBI and the NSA said. Hacker groups supporting Tehran could continue to try to disrupt or cripple critical infrastructure, such as the power grid, transportation services or the economy, the two agencies said.

Arms and defense equipment manufacturing enterprises and other American companies with ties to Israel may also be further targeted.

Recommendations on how to protect ourselves

The US Secret Service announcement also contains recommendations for strengthening digital protection, such as regularly installing software updates and using secure password management systems.
