The dream of a fourth triumph in the Euro2024 European Football Championship after the victories of 1972, 1980 and 1996 could not become a reality for the German national football team.

The team of national coach Julian Nagelsmann lost in the quarter-finals of the European Championship in the match against Spain with the result 1:2 after extra time.

The Spanish national team defeated Germany with the goal scored in the 119th minute by M. Merino. Spain thus qualified for the semi-finals of the Euro 2024 European Championship.
