The 18th session for the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly fails

The Kosovo Assembly has failed to be constituted for the 18th time in a row today, three months after the parliamentary elections held on February 9. Despite calls for an institutional unblocking, a consensus has not yet been reached by political parties on the election of the Speaker of the Assembly.

As reported by media in Kosovo, lawmakers refused for the tenth time in a row to form a commission to oversee a secret ballot for the new head of the legislative body.

The winning party of the elections, the Vetëvendosje Movement, has continued to nominate Albulena Haxhiu for the position of Speaker of Parliament, but without sufficient support from other parties.

The three main parties: PDK, LDK and AAK have refused to cast their votes on this proposal, seeking a name acceptable to all parties.
