Pope Leo XIV was inaugurated as pope at Mass in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican. The Pope was given the Ring by a cardinal, symbolizing his role and its tradition, which has its roots in St. Peter.

St. Peter's Square was packed with international delegations and religious leaders from around the world.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were among the guests.
