The European Commission has decided that humanitarian aid to the Palestinians will not be suspended, rejecting a preliminary statement by one of the highest officials.

The decision came after Oliver Varhelyi, the EU's top neighbor relations official, said the European Commission was reviewing all of its 691 million euro ($729 million) development aid to the Palestinians.

Varhelyi said all payments to the Palestinians will be suspended immediately.

"All projects are under review. All new budget proposals, including those for 2023, have been postponed until further notice," he emphasized.

But in reaction later, the European Commission contradicted its official Varhelyi, saying that "there will be no suspension of payments".

Since Saturday, support for Israel has been overwhelming from the EU's 27 countries, which have said the country has every right under international law to defend itself in the war against Hamas.

Meanwhile, fighting continues between Israel and the Hamas militant group. The attacks did not stop even during the night, while Israel has confirmed that so far there are more than 900 victims. On the other hand, the people of Plestini say that around 690 people lost their lives.

The Israeli army announces that it has found the bodies of 1,500 Hamas militants in Israel and around the Gaza Strip.
