Explosions and smoke on the border between Israel and Lebanon

Several explosions have been reported in the border region between Israel and Lebanon following an airstrike by Israeli forces.

Lebanese TV channels report that Israeli helicopters are flying over the border. Most of the smoke can be seen from unpopulated areas, but not far from villages.

The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that unoccupied houses were hit.

Several foreign missions in Lebanon, including those from Germany, the US and the UK, updated their travel advice for citizens in Lebanon, urging them to exercise caution.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that its helicopters were attacking Lebanese territory after a number of suspected gunmen who infiltrated Israel from Lebanon were killed.

The Lebanese army urged citizens to avoid areas along the southern border amid Israeli airstrikes and artillery.

The IDF similarly warned Israeli civilians living near the Lebanese border to stay in their homes./ CNA
