World leaders condemn the acts of Hamas / Britain, USA, France, Italy and

The leaders of Great Britain, the United States, France, Italy and Germany have issued a statement expressing "unequivocal condemnation of Hamas and its acts of terrorism".

The joint statement follows a phone call between President Emmanuel Macron, Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and President Joe Biden.

"The terrorist actions of Hamas have no justification, have no legitimacy and must be universally condemned," the statement said.

"Our countries will support Israel in its efforts to defend itself and its people against such atrocities," the statement continued, adding: "This is not a moment for any party hostile to Israel to exploit these attacks to benefited".

"All of us recognize the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people and support equal measures of justice and freedom for Israelis and Palestinians.

But make no mistake: Hamas does not represent those aspirations and offers nothing to the Palestinian people except more terror and bloodshed," the statement said./ CNA
