After the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a large number of rockets at Israel, the country again relied on the Iron Dome missile defense system.

According to CNN, the Iron Dome is one of the most important tools in Israel's arsenal that has saved countless lives during various conflicts over the past decade.

It's a highly effective system, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced in May that Iron Dome had a 95.6 percent success rate during rocket attacks by the Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad.

The mobile air defense system consists of 10 batteries, each of which carries three to four missile launchers.

Development of Iron Dome began in 2007, and after testing in 2008 and 2009, the first batteries were commissioned in 2011, and the system has been upgraded several times since then.

Iron Dome is designed to shoot down incoming missiles and is equipped with a radar that detects missiles within a range of four to 70 kilometers, then uses a command and control system that quickly calculates whether an incoming missile is a threat or is likely to strike an unpopulated area.
