EU and Britain congratulate Kurti on the new Government/ Mention the dialogue

The European Union's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, and the British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, have congratulated Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, on the formation of the country's new Government.

Through a post on X – formerly Twitter – Kallas said that new momentum has been created to advance relations between the European Union and Kosovo, as well as the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, and that she herself is ready to organize a high-level meeting soon.

Among other things, Kallas also mentioned the importance of carrying out reforms.

"This is the fastest way to pave the way for European Union support worth hundreds of millions of euros and to make progress on the path towards the EU," Kallas said.

Kurti was also congratulated by EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, who also mentioned the need for reforms and benefits from the EU's Growth Plan for the Western Balkan countries.

"I can't wait to visit Kosovo soon," she said in a post on X.

The British Ambassador has said that Britain is ready to assist Kosovo as it advances reforms, strengthens democratic institutions and works in the interests of all communities.

"We look forward to seeing Kosovo's commitment to the EU-mediated dialogue and to promoting regional stability, prosperity and cooperation ," Ambassador Jonathan Hargreaves said, among other things, in a Facebook post.

The new government, led by Kurti, won the necessary votes on February 11, after the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly.

Kurti and his party, the Vetevendosje Movement, won over 51 percent of the vote in the December 28 snap parliamentary elections, securing 57 seats in the Assembly.

Among the main priorities of the Government in the first days is the ratification of international agreements that Kosovo has with the EU and the World Bank. All together, they amount to about 1 billion euros. /REL
