The Kosovo government held its first meeting of the new cabinet today, where several important decisions for the country were approved. Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced that the 2026 budget and the list of international agreements were approved at the government meeting.

He further announced that the decision was also approved to request the Assembly to enable the extension of last year's Budget Allocation Law for the month of March.

According to him, in this way, pensions and salaries in the public sector will be distributed over time, while parliamentary committees and MPs of the 10th legislature handle and approve the budget for this year. Kurti emphasizes that serving the citizens of Kosovo is the greatest privilege of each of the cabinet members.

The inaugural and first working meeting of the new government cabinet. From the first day of work, we gathered to approve the 2026 budget and the list of international agreements, which have long been awaiting approval in the Assembly and which also have an expiration date. We also approved the decision to request the Assembly to enable the extension of last year's Budget Allocation Law for the month of March, in order to ensure that pensions and salaries in the public sector are executed on time, while the parliamentary committees and deputies of the 10th legislature treat and approve the budget for this year.

We recall that last year the Assembly of the Republic dissolved without voting the state budget worth 4 billion euros, the European Union Growth Plan worth 882.6 million euros and three agreements with the World Bank worth over 120 million euros, jeopardizing even the benefits from them. Now that we have a constituted Assembly and a new Government in office, we have another opportunity to ratify these international agreements in the Assembly.

Serving the Republic and its citizens, with hard work and diligence, honor and dedication, is the greatest privilege that each of us will have.
