US military plane crashes in Iraq

A US military Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker has crashed in western Iraq. The aircraft was part of US military operations related to the conflict against Iran.

Two aircraft of this type were involved in the incident: one crashed, the other managed to land safely, although it was damaged.

There were about 5-6 crew members on board the plane. Rescue operations began immediately.

According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the incident was not caused by enemy fire. The two aircraft may have had an incident during an airborne operation, possibly while refueling.

However, a pro-Iranian armed group in Iraq claimed to have shot down the plane, although this has not been confirmed by the US.

The KC-135 aircraft is used to refuel other aircraft in flight and extend the duration of long-range air missions./ CNA
