Vehicle plows into crowd at festival in Canada, several dead

The city of Vancouver in Canada was rocked by a serious incident on Saturday night. A vehicle drove into a crowd during a festival.

According to local police reports, the vehicle caused several fatalities and injuries.

Vancouver police have confirmed that the incident occurred at the intersection of E. 41st Avenue and Fraser Street, shortly after 8 p.m. local time.

Local authorities have announced that the driver has been arrested, while there is no official number of victims yet.

The city's mayor, Ken Sim, in a post on the X platform, expressed his sadness and shock at the incident.

" I am shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific incident at today's Lapu Lapu Day event. Our thoughts are with those affected and with the Filipino community of Vancouver at this extremely difficult time ," the mayor wrote./ CNA
