Do you want or do you not want Kosovo to join Albania?/ Kurti avoids the answer

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has preferred not to answer the question of whether or not he wants Kosovo and Albania to unite.

During an interview for the Greek newspaper "To Vima", with the Greek journalist Tanis Bozaninou, Kurti stated that the Constitution of Kosovo currently does not allow this, while emphasizing that the relations between the two countries "are excellent".

"To Vima": In other words, do you want or do you not want Kosovo to join Albania?

Kurti: At the moment, the Constitution of Kosovo does not allow it and we are focused on protecting our country, its territorial integrity and sovereignty, but I repeat that we have excellent relations with Albania and, even though we are one nation, we are two states of different.

This question came to Kurt after the first question, the answer of which he chose to guess. There he accused Serbia of inflating this thesis to defend the Serbian idea of ??uniting Serbs in one state.

"To Vima": Do you support the union of Kosovo and Albania?

Kurti: Albanians in Kosovo make up 93%. We are one nation but two states. I won power in February 2021 promising jobs and justice and these remain my priority. We have excellent relations with Albania. I think that most of the accusations against me, regarding the unification, come from the Serbs, because they want Republika Srpska to unite with Serbia. They have invented the so-called 'Serbian World' as a euphemism for Greater Serbia.

Furthermore, the head of the Kosovar executive was also asked about his recent visit to Tetovo, where the "Autochthonous" flag was unfurled by the crowd.

He said that in his speeches there was nothing that could damage the relations with North Macedonia, but he said that that flag represents the areas where Albanians are indigenous in the Balkans.

"To Vima": You recently visited North Macedonia and in a speech before the Albanian minority in Tetovo there were flags of Great Albania. What is Greater Albania for you?

Kurti: "I was invited by two mayors, from Skopje and Tetova. In my two speeches in these two cities, there is nothing that could harm bilateral relations. We have excellent relations with North Macedonia.

In my speech in Tetova Square, where thousands had gathered, I thanked North Macedonia for recognizing Kosovo. One of the thousands gathered had a flag with a map showing which areas Albanians are indigenous to in the Balkans. My visit and the two speeches cannot be characterized by a flag."/ CNA
