1 million euros at the Merdara border/ Who is the Albanian police officer

Around 1 million euros in undeclared cash has been discovered by Kosovo Customs and Border Police officials at the Merdare border crossing.

According to the official Customs announcement, the incident occurred on February 24, 2026, when a vehicle entering the territory of Kosovo was selected for detailed inspection, based on risk analysis and standard operating procedures.

The vehicle was initially inspected through an X-ray scanning device, where indications of a suspicious modified area in the floor were noted. After this, Customs requested assistance from the Border Police, which provided technical support with fiberoptic equipment.

During the joint inspection, it was confirmed that undeclared cash was hidden inside the makeshift space. According to initial estimates, the amount is suspected to be around 1 million euros.

KALLXO.com sources report that the suspects in the case are AL, a police officer of the Albanian State Police, as well as AK and EA.

Customs investigative units have arrived at the scene and the competent prosecutor has been notified of the case. Investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
