4 years since the start of the war/ Putin warns: If opponents push us to

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday ordered the Federal Security Service (FSB) to increase protection of the country's energy and transport infrastructure, citing Ukrainian attacks that he said were being carried out with the help of Western intelligence services.

During a speech marking the fourth anniversary of the start of the war, Putin declared that Russia's opponents failed to inflict a strategic defeat on the battlefield and were now resorting to what he called "individual and mass terrorism."

"The bombing of cities, the sabotage of infrastructure, the assassination attempts on state and military officials – all of this fits into this logic,"  he told FSB officials.

He added that there is an absolute need, on their part, for Russia to be defeated, warning that if Moscow is pushed to extremes, its opponents will regret it.

During the war, Ukraine has carried out repeated attacks on Russian fuel depots, refineries and ports, while Moscow has also accused it of a series of assassinations of senior military officials. In his televised statements, Putin has suggested that Russian energy pipelines in the Black Sea could be targeted.

The Russian President ordered the strengthening of anti-terrorist protection of energy and transport infrastructure and places of mass gatherings, ensuring maximum coverage of critical facilities and, where necessary, implementing additional security measures.

At the same time, he accused Ukraine of trying, with the help of Western intelligence services, to undermine the peace process between the two countries, including, as he said, threats against Russian energy pipelines. /CNA
