Ukrainian attack on an oil depot in Russia

The governor of Russia's southwestern Kursk region said one person had been killed as a result of Ukrainian subsidies, adding that a fire broke out at an oil depot due to a Ukrainian drone strike.

"As a result of a direct hit by a grenade, a residential building caught fire and a local woman died," governor Roman Starovoit wrote on Telegram on March 10. He added that the victim's husband suffered severe burns and is now receiving medical treatment.

Starovoit then wrote that "a Ukrainian drone crashed and caused a fire at an oil depot."

Telegram channel SHOT reported that the drone damaged a 3,000-ton oil tanker, but suggested that the tanker was empty at the time of the attack.

Last week, Starovoit claimed that a petrol storage depot was engulfed in flames after a Ukrainian drone strike. And in February it was reported that a major fire at an oil depot near Kursk was caused by a drone strike carried out by Ukraine.

The governor of the Belgorod region, after reports of attacks in Kursk, reported that this region had been attacked by two Ukrainian drones.

Vyacheslav Gladkov said a car was engulfed in flames, but no injuries were reported. In a separate post, he said Ukrainian forces had pounded the Belgorod region, including with mortars and drones, over the past 24 hours.

The Russian Defense Ministry said two drones were downed over the Belgorod region, but did not report any drone strikes in the Kursk region.

The Ukrainian army, since Russia started the war against it in 2022, does not comment on claims of drone attacks on Russian territory./ REL
