Tourism continued to experience its best days in September, reflecting an extension of the tourist season beyond the traditional summer months.

INSTAT data revealed that in September, 1.1 million foreign nationals entered the country, with an increase of 45% compared to the same month of the previous year.

This is the highest level of foreign arrivals ever recorded this month.

Even for the January-September period, the figures show a historical record. A total of 8.3 million foreign nationals entered the country, which is a figure 29% higher than the same period a year ago.

The advertisement made in the foreign media for Albania, the cheap prices inside the country, but also those of the flights, have made more and more foreigners discover the natural beauties of the country, giving life to the consumption that was changed as a result of the restraint of purchases from high prices and high rates of immigration, especially of young people.

Bars, restaurants, hotels, etc. have reported a good performance in the summer, influenced by the consumption of tourists, while many people have taken advantage of this trend to rent houses. Even revenues from internal VAT, according to data from the Ministry of Finance, increased by 29% in September.

Other data from the Ministry of Tourism show that the largest share of tourists continues to be the citizens of Kosovo, with about 33% of the total, followed by the Italians, who this year are the second with about 10%, the third have past the Macedonians, and then come the citizens from Montenegro and Greece.

In September 2023, the region with the highest number of foreign nationals entering Albania is the European region with 1,059,798 citizens, followed by America and East Asia/Pacific, respectively with 29,236 and 8,958 citizens.

According to INSTAT, in September 2023, compared to September 2022, the entries of foreign citizens are:

• increase, for personal purposes by 46.8%;
• growth, for vacation purposes, visiting relatives, etc. with 46.1%;
• decrease, for business and professional purposes by 34.7%.

Movements of citizens

According to the INSTAT announcement, the arrivals of Albanian citizens and foreigners in the Albanian territory, in the month of September 2023, are 1,651,151. This indicator results in a 36.6% increase compared to September 2022.

The exits of Albanian and foreign citizens from the territory of Albania, during the month of September 2023, are 1,714,585, marking an increase of 25.0%, compared to the same period of the previous year.

In September 2023, the number of Albanian citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 546,961. This number has increased by 22.3%, compared to September 2022.
The number of foreign citizens who have entered the Albanian territory is 1,104,190. This number has increased by 45.0%, compared to September 2022.

During the 9th month of 2023, the number of foreign citizens who entered the Albanian territory is 8,294,600. This number has increased by 29.0%, compared to the same period of 2022.

Exits of citizens

The exits of Albanian citizens from the territory of Albania, during the month of September 2023, are 614,086. Compared to September 2022, this indicator has increased by 13.5%. The exits of foreign citizens from the territory of Albania during the month of September 2023 are 1,100,499.

Compared to September 2022, this indicator has increased by 32.5%.
