Derogatory article for Afrovita Hysajn/ Association of Professional Journalists

The Association of Professional Journalists of Albania has reacted strongly regarding the threat to journalist Afrovita Hysaj by the owner of "6+1 Vlora" television and the derogatory article published by the local media.

The Association of Professional Journalists of Albania expresses deep shock at the media article, which damages the image of the journalist, who reported the concealment of one of the perpetrators of sexual abuse, due to his family ties with the owner of the television.

The association demands that the AMA and any other organization compel the local media to publicly reflect on the inappropriate behavior towards the journalist.

"The Association of Professional Journalists of Albania expresses its deep concern and shock for the denial of the journalist Afrovita Hysaj by the television 6+1 Vlora in a publication on the online page of this media.

The public denigration of a journalist due to the reporting of an event that happened in Vlora is a very serious precedent for the media in Albania, which violates every code of the profession, of ethics not only of journalism but also of public communication.

The Association of Professional Journalists of Albania condemns this serious act and, joining the solidarity reactions of each colleague, asks the AMA and any other organization that deals with the code of ethics, journalism and human rights in particular, to stand in solidarity with colleague Afrovita Hysaj and to force the media in question to publicly reflect on the unworthy behavior towards the journalist.
