The Minister of Tourism, Mirela Kumbaro, spoke at a media conference about the 6% VAT for hotels, guesthouses and vacation homes.

Kumbaro said that this VAT has been applied for 4 years, while he made a call to all accommodation businesses.

She stated that people who own a hotel should not only register with the KKB, but also with the Ministry of Tourism in order to benefit from the 6% reduction for tourism instead of 20%.

"The 6% VAT, applied to all accommodation structures, on the condition that these structures are formalized, registered with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, is a practice that has started for more than 4 years, which is intensifying.

Just now as we speak, in the last two years we have a record of over 2500 accommodation structures, from hostels to hotels or even resorts that are also classified with 5 stars.

It is very important and I am using this moment of communication to tell everyone who has a hotel that it is not enough to be registered with the CKB to benefit from this preferential reduction, dedicated to tourism 6% instead of 20%, it must be registered in the Ministry of Tourism to get the given category", she emphasized./ CNA
