The Chairperson of the Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA), Armela Krasniqi, has reacted regarding the language used towards the journalist Afrovita Hysaj, on "6+1 Vlora" television, after the publication of details about the sexual abuse and drugging of a 26-year-old woman.

Through a post on social networks, Krasniqi condemns the sexist language and discriminatory vocabulary used against the journalist. According to her, this case highlights the legal gap that exists for dealing with such phenomena that are commonly encountered in the online media. She wants to work on a new regulation for online media.

"I consider unacceptable the language used by the 6plus1vlora.al portal, towards the journalist Afrovita Hysaj. I strongly condemn any kind of communication like this, in which a woman, a professional journalist, is attacked using derogatory vocabulary, sexist, discriminatory and banal language. As for the starting point that brought about this communication deviation, the competent bodies will certainly decide. What I can say with conviction is that this is a flagrant case of lynching of a journalist, reprehensible, that violates human dignity, freedom of speech and any professional code of ethics.

This case - unfortunately, not the only one - highlights once again the legal gap that exists for the treatment of such phenomena. I encourage and express my support for journalists' associations, interest groups and every individual, in legal initiatives for the drafting of regulations for the operation of online media, but also for the further improvement of the existing legal framework. I wish and express confidence that such cases will not be repeated and that every media professional reflects on such phenomena", says Krasniqi.

Journalist Afrovita Hysaj reported that one of the perpetrators of the sexual abuse of the 26-year-old in Vlora is trying to hide.

Unlike the police, who reported 3 perpetrators (2 in handcuffs and 1 wanted), Hysaj said that a fourth person was also involved in this event, who was the son of a local television host "6+1 Vlora". ".

After this report, the journalist received a threatening message from the owner of the local television, while "6+1 Vlora" published an article where he labeled the journalist with the harsh term "Prosti".

Afrovita Hysaj reported to the police of Vlora the television host with the initials AD and the Blues prosecuted him criminally.

However, the police state that the fourth person was not involved in the act of sexual abuse, but encouraged the other 3 to give narcotics to the 26-year-old. /CNA
