Government decisions/ Albania-Serbia, agreement on the recognition of social

The Council of Ministers has approved in principle the agreement on social security between the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Serbia, paving the way for the mutual recognition of the contributions of citizens who have worked in both countries.

The agreement aims to guarantee social security rights for Albanian and Serbian citizens, ensuring the transfer and recognition of insurance periods, pension benefits and other insurance-related benefits.

This decision enters into force immediately and constitutes a concrete step towards improving the social protection of citizens who live or have lived and worked in both countries.

Another approved VKM is Albania's accession to the agreement on cooperation and coordination in the field of air search and rescue, signed in Ohrid, on 22.2.2023, between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the government of Bulgaria, the Republic of Croatia, the government of Hungary, the government of the Republic of North Macedonia, the government of Montenegro, the government of the Republic of Serbia, the government of the Republic of Slovakia and the government of the Republic of Slovenia.

This law enters into force 15 days after its publication in the "Official Gazette".
