The Special Prosecutor's Office has added another security measure for the former mayor of the Municipality of Himara, Jorgo Goro.

Goro is accused of the criminal offenses of "Forgery of documents" and "Abuse of duty", provided by articles 186 and 248 of the Criminal Code.

After conducting the investigative actions and analyzing the evidence collected up to this stage of the investigation, reasonable suspicion has been created that Goro, in the capacity of the Mayor of Himarë, during the process of handling the request presented by Arqile Bollano and further the device of this the citizen, with the act of taking ownership of the land, has committed actions/inactions contrary to Article 17 of Law no. 9948/2008 "On the Review of the Legal Validity of the Creation of Titles of Ownership on Agricultural Land", as amended, as well as points 1, 2, 3 of VKM with no. 253, dated 6.3.2013 "On the Determination of the Procedures for Completing the Acts of Acquiring Agricultural Land in Ownership for Agricultural Families in the Villages of Former Agricultural Cooperatives", consuming in this way the elements of the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", provided for from article 248 of the Criminal Code.

As a result of the actions of the Himar Municipality, the AB citizen has benefited according to the Land Acquisition Act no...., dated 25.08.2016, a land area of ??4263 m2. This area of ??land was illegally acquired as the investigation proved that the AB citizen was treated with agricultural land based on Law no. 7501/1991 "For the Land" according to AMTP no…….., dated 08.03.1996, with a total area of ??7700 m2.

Based on the above, the Special Prosecutor's Office has addressed the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a request for the appointment of the security measure "Arrest in prison", provided by article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, for the citizen under investigation JG, former mayor of Himar Municipality and the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with decision no. 67 dated 03.07.2024, has decided to assign the security measure "Arrest in prison" for this citizen, suspected of committing the criminal offense "Abuse of duty" provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code.

On 04.07.2024, the National Bureau of Investigation executed the security measure "arrest in prison", assigned to Jorgo Goro.

Investigations continue with the aim of evidencing the responsibility of other persons involved in the commission of the criminal offense./ CNA
