The Special Court, at the request of SPAK, imposed 5 security measures, 3 "prison arrests" and 2 "house arrests" after investigations into abuses of EU funds.

Among the people who have been imprisoned is the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj.

SPAK has yet to make an official announcement regarding these security measures, but it is reported that the abuses were committed while Beqaj was heading SASPAC (State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination).

The other two people who have fallen into the hands of the police are Ermal Kurtulaj and Alfred Nikolla. The security measures were decided by the judge of GJKKO, Rudina Palloi, meanwhile they were executed by the Police of Tirana. 

Ermal Kurtulaj was also the coordinator of the EUSAIR project that was managed by the SASPAK Agency and is also known as Beqaj's financier.

There are doubts that Kurtulaj is the person who signed many documents on Beqaj's behalf.

A few months ago, officers of the National Bureau of Investigation also conducted inspections in their homes. / CNA
