SPAK: Ilir Beqaj has hidden his wealth

SPAK has issued an official announcement regarding the arrest of the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj.

In the announcement, it is emphasized that Beqaj has made a false declaration on his wealth from 2020 onwards, after hiding his financial interests in the "Gzona" restaurant with an address near Tirana Castle.

According to the Special Prosecutor's Office, Beqaj's wife was de jure a 15% partner in this company until 2020, then donating her shares to the other partner, the partner was in fact the person under investigation Beqaj himself, who continued as such even during the time he led SASPAC.

Meanwhile, Ilir Beqaj has not declared a car bought in 2019, in the name of the person Ermal Kurtulaj.

The person under IB investigation is suspected of having made a false declaration on his wealth from 2020 onwards, after hiding his financial interests in the restaurant "G....." with an address near the Tirana Castle, from its creation to the present . Despite the fact that his wife was a de jure partner of 15% in this company until 2020, then donating her shares to the other partner, the partner was actually the person under IB investigation, who continued as such even during his time leading SASPAC.

The person under IB investigation is suspected of having invested in the company in 2019 at least the sum of 21,411 euros and 4,666,110 ALL, in the form of purchases of equipment (assets) and in the amount of 34,783 euros in the form of expenses such as rent and others, do not declare them as loans to society. He exercised his property interests in this restaurant through the person under investigation by EK, who administered them, being employed in this restaurant since its creation, but without being declared as employed by the tax authorities.

After carrying out many investigative actions as well as the administration of evidence, the Special Prosecutor's Office has requested the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, the appointment of personal security measures in charge of the persons against whom investigations are conducted within this the proceeding.

The Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with decision no. 65, dated 03.07.2024, decided to impose coercive personal security measures "Prison arrest", provided by Article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for three persons under investigation; the security measure "House arrest", provided by article 237 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for two persons under investigation; as well as the insurance measure "Compulsion to appear before the judicial police", provided by article 234 of the Penal Code, for two other persons under investigation, suspected of committing criminal offenses "Passive corruption of high officials state", carried out in collaboration, provided by articles 260 and 25 of the Criminal Code, "Active corruption of high public officials", provided by article 245 of the Criminal Code, "Refusal to declare, non-declaration, concealment or false declaration of assets, private interests of elected persons and public servants or any other person who has the legal obligation to declare", provided by article 257/a/2 of the Criminal Code, "Fraud" committed in collaboration, with serious consequences provided by articles 143/ 2/3 of the Criminal Code, as well as "Violation of the equality of participants in public tenders or auctions", carried out in cooperation provided by article 258/2 and 25 of the Criminal Code.

On the part of the officers of the National Bureau of Investigation, as well as the structures of the General Directorate of the State Police, six personal security measures have been executed so far for the persons under investigation, while actions are being carried out for the execution of the measure for the other person under investigation. .

Investigations continue in relation to the collection and provision of evidence for other persons involved in these actions, as well as for other criminal facts related to the checks carried out on December 28, 2023./CNA
