A preliminary hearing for Mayor Erion Veliaj is taking place today at the Special Court.

The Criminal Court of Kosovo will decide today whether or not to proceed to trial the case against the mayor, who faces 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses.

We recall that the preliminary hearing for Veliaj was scheduled to be held on November 12, but was postponed.

Meanwhile, we would like to point out that this was not the first time that Veliaj's lawyers have requested a postponement.

The preliminary hearing was set to be considered on October 28, but Veliaj's lawyers again used their strategies and tactics to postpone the hearing, which was scheduled for today.

Earlier, the preliminary hearing for Veliaj was postponed due to a boycott by lawyers on October 10, following the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja in the courtroom, while the second time, on October 21, it was postponed due to a boycott following the lawyer's arrest in Elbasan.

While on September 29, the preliminary hearing was postponed due to the lack of notification for some of the defendants. SPAK has copied Veliaj's file and sent it for trial./ CNA
