This Sunday, the Speaker of the Parliament, Niko Peleshi, delivered one of the most important speeches of Albanian parliamentarism since its creation.

They have shown that they have a public opinion and said: "The foundations that have been laid for our state, those thoughts that have been made, must be secure, they must be strengthened, we must give this state the right direction, give it its shape."

This is the purpose of the meeting of the Constitutional Assembly that opens its doors today for the first time, where representatives of the Albanian nation have gathered.

It is a great task, honorable gentlemen, that we have undertaken: to form the foundations of our state and to give the right direction to our people. This is truly a sacred task, and a difficult one, because we must take into account the entire life of our nation, so that we can know how to arrange it for its future. So that we can ensure it a bright life, progress and civilization.

Let us find the middle ground, so that no one goes ahead and no one goes behind, but rather act unitedly, taking into account the customs of all the tribes of Albania, taking into account the needs of all the regions, so that we walk on a path that unites us, that guides us all to a common law, ensuring not only the survival of our people, but also their progress and civilization./ CNA
