"They turned the school into a land for the oligarchs"/ Zhupa's

MP Ina Zhupa has filed a complaint from Saranda. The MP has reported that two schools in Saranda offer lessons for Saranda students from 1 pm to 6 pm for the second shift, making it impossible for parents who have to accompany their students during these inconvenient hours to live a normal life, and also providing poor quality lessons.

The MP added that 348 million lek were spent to build a school whose site became land for oligarchs to build resorts.

"We are in 2025 and cities like Saranda still suffer from 2-shift teaching.

2 9-year schools in Saranda offer classes for Saranda students from 1 pm to 6 pm for the second shift, making the normal life of parents who have to accompany students during these inconvenient hours impossible, but also providing a low-quality lesson.

These schools are, in fact, depreciated schools, they are schools that do not offer laboratories, they are schools that lack quality in teaching and didactic tools.

Despite the fact that 348 million lek from Albanian citizens' taxes were spent to build a new school named "Eco Campus" in Saranda, it was not put into operation for 8 years.

And with a decision by the local government, the Municipality of Saranda, they decided to convert this building, built with citizens' taxes to become a school, and give it to the oligarchs and clients of the government, to turn it into hotels and tourist resorts.

This is unacceptable, it is against the public interest and leaves the students and parents of Saranda in a miserable situation.

I call on them today from Saranda to withdraw from this decision against the public interest.

From this decision which does not honor the city of Saranda and give the opportunity to the students of Saranda to teach in the new school, by opening that school. By providing the necessary resources to that school and each of the parents to be calmer when taking their children to study with 1 shift in the city of Saranda.

"Therefore, it is everyone's duty to raise their voices about this reality, which is a particular reality throughout Europe but which the city of Saranda also suffers from," Zhupa denounced./ CNA
