Albania is a small country with big scandals. As if affairs and corruption weren't enough, appointments and dismissals are another scandal that blackens Albania.

In October 2025, by decision of the Council of Ministers, Roland Kristo was relieved of his duties as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In fact, this is more than just another dismissal, it is a scandal, as Roland Kristo has made an extraordinary contribution during his tenure.

Kristo has been responsible for fisheries, pushing the fishing sector forward and marking achievement after achievement, while also holding the post of president of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean. After the first four-year term ended, Brussels proposed and insisted that he keep it for another four years but ended this cycle.

After three years, in Malaga, Spain, where the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean was holding its 48th session, Kristo requested his resignation for health reasons, before the Spanish Minister of Fisheries and before all members of the Mediterranean and the Council of Europe.

He was surprised by the members of this committee who wrote "Thank you Roland" in Albanian.

But what happens?

Such a figure, appreciated and honored by Europe, is thrown into the street by the Minister of Agriculture, Andis Salla.

It was expected that with the arrival of the new minister there would be a new vision, but apparently he has an even older mentality.

A deputy minister who is appreciated and decorated is removed and replaced with any kind of partisan, militant, ignorant or servant who guards the fence and licks the minister's chair while such professional people are thrown into the streets.

Not only is it paradoxical, but it is also painful how we as a country throw away such people with contributions and true professionals, those who push the country forward and not those who stand behind the ministerial chair for a piece of "post", in the trash.

Professionals like Roland Kristo are hired, grow in their careers, are trained, evaluated, professionalized, and then, at a certain point, a tragicomic minister comes along, takes him and throws him in the trash for his own interests, because he wants someone to protect his chair.

In relation to this scandal, the well-known entrepreneur and businessman Gjergj Luca has also reacted, who through a message on social networks has loudly shouted the humiliation inflicted on Professor Roland Kristos, the renowned biologist, the rare scientist who was appreciated and respected by the Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas, and the Mediterranean Fisheries Commission, and upon returning to Albania was thrown out on the street within a day.
