Tuesday and Wednesday are days of mourning, as a sign of honor and respect in memory of the well-known writer Ismail Kadare, who passed away the day before at the age of 88.

The Council of Ministers approved yesterday afternoon two days of mourning in honor of the world-famous writer.

Today and tomorrow will be days of national mourning, where flags in state and public institutions will be lowered to half-mast.

Therefore, public tributes and state ceremonies will be held tomorrow at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet in Tirana, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meanwhile, at 13.00 on Wednesday, all activities will be stopped and a minute of silence will be held in honor of the colossus of Albanian letters.

Kadare is considered one of the giants of Albanian literature. Author of dozens of novels, poems and essays, he is probably among the most well-known Albanians in the world, with his works translated into over 40 different languages ??and published all over the world.

Kadare has been a candidate for the Nobel Prize for literature several times in a row, while there are many prestigious international awards for his work, such as the International Booker Man Prize, Prince of Asturias Aëard, Jerusalem Prize, Neustadt International Prize, Nonino, Park Kyong -ni./  CNA
