US shuts down Iranian websites that published data from attacks on Albania in 2022

The US Department of Justice announced that it has shut down several websites that were used to spread pro-Iranian propaganda, threaten regime opponents and publish hacked data.

American media reports that 4 websites were seized, linked to hacker groups such as: Handala, Homeland Justice, Karma Below.

According to the FBI, these groups are controlled by the Ministry of Intelligence and Security.

The pages published material stolen from cyberattacks, claimed responsibility for attacks, and threatened dissidents and critics of the Iranian regime.

One of the other websites shut down was affiliated with Homeland Justice and was allegedly used to take credit for a highly publicized 2022 cyberattack against the Albanian government, the Justice Department said./CNA
