Abusive media reporting/ AMA President: Fine for violation in the amount of 800 thousand euros

The Chairperson of the Audiovisual Media Authority, Armela Krasniqi, declared this Thursday that measures have been taken in cases of problematic media reporting.

Krasniqi stated that so far, fines for violations worth a total of 800 thousand euros have been imposed.

As Krasniqi emphasized, these are cases of misreporting on radio and television, while he also warned of harsher penalties.

 "Online platforms are not monitored by the institution. If you watch videos on different platforms that are not appropriate or contain images of criminal acts, please report them to the AMA. But we do not report platforms. Our legislation provides for the control of TVs, radios. AMA speaks through sanctions or fines, so to speak.

"We have imposed fines for violations, we have imposed 800 thousand euros in fines in total. We operate initially by attracting attention, because we are not the media police. Initially, we attract attention, and then we have harsher sanctions," said Krasniqi. /CNA
