Prime Minister Edi Rama together with the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, participated today in the opening of the Security and Defense Innovation Center.
Rama said that the opening of this center marks a new era of technological development and modernization in the fields of security and defense.
"Through the new Security and Defense Innovation Center, it is intended, among other things, to strengthen national capacities in the field of security and defense through the implementation of innovative projects and the integration of advanced technologies, as well as to promote the development of an ecosystem of innovation in security and protection", said Rama.
Today, Russia reacted through the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, who accused NATO and the EU of expanding their cyber centers aimed at attacking Russia.
Zakharova stated that such a center is also being opened in Albania, claiming that the center's mission will be to help "create a negative image for Russia".
Also, Zakharova warns that in this form, another source of hybrid threats is being created in the Balkans, adding that "the region has too many political problems".
The official of the Russian Foreign Ministry claims that a similar center was established in 2017 in Helsinki, Finland, which the Russian military says operates in the military, political, diplomatic, economic, informational, medical and other spheres to harm the positive image of Russia. Zakharova has accused NATO of dangerous war maneuvers.
"Currently, in relations with Russia, the bloc has returned to the mentality of the Cold War. In its doctrinal documents, the country has been declared, and I quote, 'the greatest direct threat'. There is an active military buildup in the east. Military exercises are of an unprecedented scale. They are preparing for war against Russia and they don't even hide it," she declared.
