Korça Region/ Rainfall causes damage, situation under monitoring

Continuous rainfall during the night and early morning hours has caused several problems in the Korça region, affecting homes, roads and bridges in several municipalities. Local structures and emergency teams are on the ground to intervene and monitor the situation.

Situation by municipality:

Korça Municipality: The situation is moving towards normalization in the administrative units of Bulgarec, Vithkuq, Drenova and Mollaj, after the water has been withdrawn.

Municipality of Kolonjë: The bridges in Qafëzez and Qinam are still blocked, but the water level is decreasing. The inerts on rural roads are being cleaned.

Maliq Municipality: Work continues to close the cracks in the embankments of the Devoll River and the Dunavec River. Residents of the villages of Moçan, Desmire, Osoje and Gjinikas are stranded due to the collapse of bridges. In the villages of Senisht and Dolan there are landslides that endanger homes.

Pustec Municipality: Calm situation, intervention to remove water from basements in apartments.

Devoll Municipality: Water has been drained in the villages of Proger and Macurisht, while the missing person has been found. A road segment in Miras remains blocked by landslides.

Municipality of Pogradec: About 50 houses damaged, 5 bridges damaged and flooding of 3.5 ha of cultivated land. Tushemisht hydroelectric power station is operating normally.

Electricity and road traffic:

In the Korça region, several feeders are out of service, affecting hundreds of subscribers in rural areas, but OSHEE teams are on standby for repairs.

Road traffic on the main axes such as Korçë–Ersekë, Zemblak–Goricë and Bilisht–Miras is normal, except for the Qinam–Selenica connecting bridge, which remains blocked.
